Switch Poker ceases operations – Withdrawals are still possible

Switch Poker closes2016 might become the year of consolidations in the Poker App sector. After we’ve already reported about the end of TerminalPoker in January, Switch Poker, another mobile Poker pioneer, closes down business. For more than five years, Switch Poker had offered real money poker for smartphones and tablets. Now, when visiting the Switch Poker website, all we find is a message that tells us that Switch Poker does not accept new deposits and that the games are temporarily not available. Withdrawals are still possible.

Though the end of Switch Poker did not come all that surprising it did come rather fast. Not before March, the company, which is based in Costa Rica, informed its business partners via email that it’s going to cease operations. Only a few days later this information was then released on Switch Poker’s website:
Switch PokerSince March 2016, Switch Poker hasn’t been accepting new deposits.

Those who tried to play real money poker despite the warning got this message
“Closed – Game play is currently unavailable“. Hence, games at Switch Poker are not available any longer – as of now the poker room is closed.

Switch Poker App was outdated, players stayed away

For branch experts it was quite predictable that Switch Poker would disappear from the market sooner or later, judging by their current range. Whereas the Switch Poker App had at first scored with regular updates and innovate features like playing poker at different tables simultaneously, it soon lagged behind technologically compared to the Apps of bigger poker rooms. For some time now this has also been reflected in our rankings: Switch Poker disappeared from the top 10 ranking a long time ago. Especially providers like 888poker or PokerStars, but also different Apps from the iPoker network outclassed the Switch Poker App in many different matters.

The consequence: players stayed away from Switch Poker – and a poker room with empty tables is doomed to die. Thanks to its attractive offer of receiving €5 for free without having to make a deposit, Switch Poker managed to stay in business relatively long. But now, in April 2016, it seems to close down business for good.

Switch Poker pays out the players’ balances

In case you used to play at Switch Poker and are now worried about your money we can comfort you insofar as that at the time of this article’s release (5.4.2016), Switch Poker still accepted payment applications and also carried them out. We tried it ourselves and got our money back within one day.

Nevertheless, in case you still have money in your Switch Poker account we advise you to withdraw your money as soon as possible, before the services close down completely and the website goes offline.
