Player pool migration: Full Tilt players will be transferred to PokerStars

PokerStars übernimmt Spielerpool von FullTilt [UPDATE May 17th 2016] The world’s largest poker room PokerStars has taken over its smaller brother Full Tilt. The player pools of the two Amaya-owned brands were fusioned on May 17th 2016. The brand Full Tilt will continue to exist. The Full Tilt software and poker app will stay independed as well. But the fusion might be only the first step of the last mile for Full Tilt.

The big change is official since it was annonced by Amaya in a press briefing that was send out earlier this year. Full Tilt players were prepared to be transferred to PokerStars. Now that it is done, the former Full Tilt account can be used to log in at PokerStars and FullTilt – and vice versa. Players from the formerly seperated networks play at the same tables now.

According to the industry newssite Calvinayre, Amaya is “still committed to a dual-poker brand strategy” and Full Tilt will retain its unique products. The company wants to concentrate on developing new products for a single platform rather than for two. On top of that, both poker rooms would profit from the additional liquidity that comes with the merger of the player pools.

It is not unusual in the world of online poker to have multiple brands using the same platform. Playtech’s poker network iPoker is the best example. Several established brands like William Hill, Ladbrokes Poker or betfair Poker send their players to the iPoker network where they share the same tables. On the other hand, the migration of the Full Tilt players might as well be a first step of a termination of the formerly well-known brand.

Full Tilt was the second largest poker room of the world when it was shut down after Black Friday shocked the world of online poker. PokerStars acquired and re-launched Full Tilt in 2012, but failed to bring the brand back to where it used to be.
