PKR Poker ceases operations – background information and alternatives

PKR Poker Alternativen
We’ve received bad news from the Micrograming Network: Since May 2017, the 3D poker room PKR Poker has been offline. When trying to reach their website, we’re being forwarded to a status website on which PKR limited and PKR Technologies announce that they’ve filed applications to Court of Administration orders. So far, there have only been speculations about what might happen next with the poker room and how players can get their money back. Keep reading to get more background information and find out about possible alternatives to PKR Poker.

PKR has been offline since Wednesday

Since last Wednesday, PKR players have been trying to log-into their accounts on the PKR website or in the poker app unsuccessfully. Receiving the company’s message now confirms the sad news: PKR stays offline – at least at the moment. The poker room built up a reputation with its 3D software, especially among occasional players. The software put much emphasis on the looks and the players could equip their avatars with different items. To ambitious players, however, these features just weren’t satisfying enough. They criticized, among other things, the software not allowing real multi-tabling and therefore the game being generally too slow.

Last year, there had already been some indications that PKR wasn’t that successful with their innovative – or at least unconventional – idea. At that time, the till then independent poker room merged with the Microgaming Network so that their players would have enough opponents to play against. However, the financial situation deteriorated drastically.

Microgaming shut down the poker website

In a short press release the Micrograming Network announced that they suspended gaming at PKR on May 3 at 5.32 pm – by doing so they carried out the poker room’s request. In their press release, they further stated “Microgaming is aware that their games remain offline and players are speculating about the reason for this. As soon as Microgaming has more information on the situation, it will be shared as soon as possible.”

Micrograming’s brief statement

However, on PKR’s website we find a more precise message: “Further to earlier announcements, PKR limited and PKR Technologies Ltd have filed applications to Court for Administration orders, which will be heard in the week commencing 8th May 2017.

Further information will be placed on this website following the hearings.

This information will include contact details for players and creditors to address queries and details of the process.”

Alternatives to PKR Poker

Obviously, we strongly discourage players who haven’t got an account at PKR yet to register at PKR Poker. When doing our last test, this wasn’t possible anyway, since all traffic was redirected to their status website. To those who are looking for an alternative to PKR we recommend the following providers: Unibet, because just like PKR the software provides lots of fun for beginners. 888poker, bwin or Pokerstars because those three poker rooms belong to the world’s biggest gaming companies and therefore the risk of them closing all of a sudden is much lower than anywhere else.
