WSOP 2016: The November Nine are set

WSOP Main Event Las Vegas
UPDATE July 19th: WSOP 2016, the most important Poker Event of the year, has reached its temporary peak. The World Series of Poker has taken place in Las Vegas from 31th of May till 18th of July. As always in Las Vegas, the WSOP Main Event 2016 was the Highlight of this years poker calendar. After seven days of high class poker, the player pool of more than 6000 attendees has been boiled down to the top 9. The november nine, the final, will start on October 30th. The players who are still in the game can already cheer: They have won at least $1 Million.

This are the WSOP 2016 November Nine

Name Natioality Chipcount
Cliff Josephy United States 74.600.000
Qui Nguyen United States 67.925.000
Gordon Vayo United States 49.375.000
Kenny Hallaert Belgium 43.325.000
Michael Ruane United States 31.600.000
Vojtech Ruzicka Czech Republic 27.300.000
Griffin Benger Canada 26.175.000
Jerry Wong United States 10.175.000
Fernando Pons Spain 6.150.000

US-players are dominating again

One thing you see at the first sight: Once again, US-players were dominating the field at the WSOP 2016. 5 of the November Nine are US residents. If you add the Canadian Griffin Benger, there are six North Americans amongst the top poker players. The chip leader Cliff Josephy and his two follow-ups are US-players. So it’s kind of likely that, just like in 2015, team USA will win the World Series of Poker Main Event again.

Two Online Qualifiers are already millionaires

If you take a closer look, there is another noteworthy thing that’s even more interesting. This year, two online qualifiers made it to the final table of the WSOP and already won at least one million dollars. Fernando Pons of Spain (currently 9th place) and the Griffin Benger of Canada (7th) both grabbed their ticket to the WSOP main event by winning a qualifier tournament at 888poker. While Benger is an established poker pro with more than $2 Million of lifetime winnings, Pons was never even close to win such a large amount of money at a poker table. He joined a €30 WSOP satellite at 888poker and played his way to the top.

At 888poker, WSOP qualifiers start at $0,01. And thanks to the free welcome bonus of $88, you can even make it to the WSOP Main Event without spending a single penny. Click ono the following link to find out more about the 888poker Bonus. Or get your free welcome package here:

The WSOP Main Event has written some fantastic storys in the last couple of years. The probably most famous one is the one of Chris Moneymaker. He qualified online, attended his first live tournament ever in Las Vegas, and went home with the bracelet of the World Champion and $2,5 Million cash. Last year, Joe McKeehen was the dominant player in the WSOP Main Event and won $7,680,000 Millionen Dollar. The great thing about the WSOP is, that everyone had the chance to follow in his footsteps without spending a single penny by taking part in the freerolls and qualifiers (see below). Will a poker pro or a nobody win the title in 2016? We’ll keep you up to date once the Main Event continues.

How to win a ticket for the 2016 WSOP Main Event

888 Poker, the official sponsor of the WSOP 2016, is running a lot of WSOP Qualifiers every day. These satellites start as low as 1c. As a new player at 888 poker, you can win your ticket absolutely free. Just for registering at 888 poker, you can take part in the “Road to WSOP” promotion and win an all-incluive WSOP package worth $13,000.

This is how it works at 888poker: Download the Software or App to your device here and register for a new account. You can create the account from within the App or Desktop Software. Once registered, you will recieve two free tickets to the $6,000 Road to WSOP Free Tournaments, where you can play to win a $1050 ticket to the WSOP Qualifier. The two free tickets are on top of the free $88/£20 Welcome Package which every new player revieves upon registration – no deposit needed.

If you are one of the five successfull players in the $6.000 freeroll, you get a $1050 Ticket to a WSOP Qualifier, where you will play for a $13.000 all-inclusive WSOP Main Event package. Flights, seven nights in a luxury hotel and the buy-in to the Main Event, worth $10.0000 alone, are part of the package.

The first WSOP-Promotion at 888 has just ended successfully. Player “mestriner” from Brasilia has won his WSOP package on 19th of April and will play with the big guys in Las Vegas. If you want to do so, too, download and register at ntil May 13th and take part in the action. Or check out our review to learn more about 888 poker.

Are there other ways to get tickets to the WSOP Main Event?

Of course there are. The 888 poker promo is not the only way to take part in the official WSOP action.

  • If you’ve got some big money available, you can always pre register online for cash. For every of the 68 events of the finals in Las Vegas, the WSOP offers a pre-registration online. The Main-Event costs $10.000, for example, the High Roller for One Drop is even more expensive with $111.111. But there are also some Events available with buy-ins as low as $565.
  • If you miss the pre-registration or prefer face-to-face-deals, you can also buy-in in Las Vegas when the WSOP Finals have started.
  • If you do not want to spend that much cash but still prefer live games, playing some of the Qualifiers in Las Vegas is another option. The WSOP offers Satellites for the Main Event.
  • Other Online-Qualifiers that the ones at 888 poker are hard to find. With 888 being the new Main Sponsor of the WSOP 2016, they are the only poker room with the right to offer official WSOP Qualifiers online. PokerStars, for example, respects this new situation and has withdrawn their former WSOP Qualifiers.

Will the WSOP 2016 be on TV?

In english speaking countries, ESPN has established itself as one of the leading poker chanels, covering the WSOP. 888 has announced that one of the companys goals as a main sponsor of the event is to improve the WSOP TV coverage in Europe. There was also a chance that the new 24/7 Poker channel “Poker Central” will cover the WSOP 2016. But it turned out that there is no WSOP live coverage on Poker Central this year. We will update this news as soon as we get more information about the TV schedules.
